10 Days in Japan: Tokyo, Hakone & Osaka

Mount Fuji in the Fall

A balanced 10-day itinerary combining Japan’s major cities, scenic nature, and unforgettable food experiences.

Sample Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day-by-Day Itinerary:

Day 1 — Arrive + “easy Tokyo” (Asakusa)

Morning

  • Arrive + hotel check-in (aim for a hotel near a big station like Tokyo Station / Ueno / Shinjuku—easy onward travel).

  • If you arrive early: grab a coffee and just walk a bit near your hotel to reset.

Afternoon (Asakusa)

  • Go to Asakusa and visit Sensō-ji Temple and Nakamise-dori (the little shopping street leading up to the temple).

  • Why this works for beginners: it’s one of the most straightforward areas in Tokyo—big landmarks, lots of signs, and it’s very walkable once you arrive.

Evening (Sumida riverside)

  • Walk toward the Sumida River and see Tokyo Skytree from the river area (nice “first-night” view without complicated planning).

  • Dinner nearby in Asakusa (you’ll find plenty—no need to pre-book).

Transport (simple version)

  • Take the subway/train to Asakusa Station. At the gate, tap an IC card, follow signs for Asakusa, ride ~15–30 minutes depending on where you’re staying, then follow the crowd toward the big temple lantern.

Day 2 — Food + modern Tokyo (Tsukiji + Ginza)

Morning (Tsukiji outer market area)

  • Head to Tsukiji Outer Market for breakfast-style.........
